English - Reach For The Stars
We would like to take this opportunity to invite Year 7 & 8 parents to the English department’s ‘Reach for the Stars’: Promoting Successful Students of English’ evening on Tuesday 26th September 2017. The event will begin at 4pm and finish at 4.50pm.
Key Stage 3 is an incredibly important period in developing new and positive habits towards learning that can ultimately provide your son/daughter with the foundations to build for a positive future at school and beyond. With the new challenges of the rigorous GCSE specifications across all subjects, and in particular English, it is more important than ever that your child acquires and incorporates learning habits that will help make them successful students in their early years at secondary school.
At Halewood Academy we are committed to the success of our students and we would like this opportunity to give parents and carers an outline of the expectations in English, literacy and positive attitudes to learning and reading; both of which are a whole school focus.
The ‘‘Reach for the Stars’: Promoting Successful Students of English’ presentation will discuss how the school helps build literacy skills across all subject areas including English, as well as develop successful learners. The talk will also give tips and advice on how to improve your child’s literacy skills at home. The information received will help you to support your child in their quest in becoming successful students in their first years at Secondary school.
