Admission to a secondary school is an important step for a young person and potentially an anxious time for his/her parents/carers. The Governors wish to ensure that each child can be offered a suitable education to meet his/her needs, without prejudicing the welfare and education of other children in the centre.
The Local Education Authority co-ordinate the admissions of all Knowsley Schools. A copy of their standard application form is available from the Knowsley website. It is also distributed to primary schools in the autumn term. For more information, please click here.
The Academy holds an Open Evening during the autumn term when parents/carers are encouraged to view the facilities, meet staff and students, and ask questions. Parents/carers are also welcome to visit the centre at any time by making an appointment.
Halewood Academy sometimes has to operate a waiting list for year groups for those children whose initial application is refused. Should places become available later in the year then the list will be reviewed. Length of time on the list does not give additional priority. Students on roll at other centres within the area who seek to transfer, will normally only be admitted at the start of term following their application.
If a child is refused a place then parents/carers have the right to appeal.
