Admission to a secondary school is an important step for a young person and potentially an anxious time for parents and carers. The Governors wish to ensure that each child can be offered a suitable education to meet his/her needs, without prejudicing the welfare and education of other children in the school.
The Local Education Authority co-ordinate the admissions of all Knowsley Schools. For Admission to Secondary School 2021, parents must apply to their home authority (the authority where they live).
For Knowsley residents please click HERE for the admissions procedures and access to online application.
For further information you can download the Knowsley Secondary Education Admissions Booklet HERE.
For non-Knowsley residents please contact your Local Authority:
The Academy would normally hold an Open Evening during the autumn term when parents/carers are encouraged to view the facilities, meet staff and students, and ask questions. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions we are currently unable to offer this event. There will be a Virtual Open Evening and when it is safe to do so, parents/carers will be welcome to visit the school at any time by making an appointment.
Halewood Academy sometimes has to operate a waiting list for year groups for those children whose initial application is refused. Should places become available later in the year then the list will be reviewed. Length of time on the list does not give additional priority. Students on roll at other schools within the area who seek to transfer, will normally only be admitted at the start of term following their application.
If a child is refused a place then parents/carers have the right to appeal.
An Appeals Form is available from school - please phone 0151 477 8830 and ask for Mrs Chambers or email: admin@halewoodacademy.co.uk
