Halewood Academy Governing Body Responsibilities & Committees
Derek Darlington (Chair) - Derek is a retired teacher who worked in a Liverpool school with over 40 years experience in education.
Gary Evans (Principal) - Gary went to school and college in Knowsley. He studied French Studies and his PGCE at Portsmouth University. He then lived and taught in France. He has worked in 4 schools in the North West since 1996 as a teacher of Languages, Head of Year, Head of Department, Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher.
Rachael Smith – Rachael has lived and worked in Knowsley all her life. She has been supporting local unemployed people to find work for the past 17 years.
David Hughes - David is a Costs Lawyer who was born, raised and educated locally. David has more than 12 years’ experience working for large law firms at home and abroad and is a committed CSR champion, trying to promote greater collaboration between local businesses and schools. Prior to becoming a co-opted Governor at Halewood Academy, David ran DWF Liverpool’s award-winning 5 STAR Futures programme for 3 years, a programme which focused on pupil aspiration and ‘aiming high’.
Graham Tubey - An ex award winning Chair of Governors at Plantation Primary. Graham has worked at Jaguar Land Rover for 9 years as a Production Leader, having spent the majority of his working life working in the private and charitable employment sectors.
Leanne Connolly - Leanne is a mum of 2 children who attend Halewood Academy and a local school. She feels like she can be a voice for the parents of the school and is looking forward to help organise many activities in the school for the children.
Catherine Roe - Catherine is currently a full time mum to three children and part-time treasurer for a local church. Originally from a science background but more recently working in schools as a Teaching Assistant with experience from Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 5/ A level.
Cecelia Costello - Cecilia began teaching at Halewood in 2006. Cecilia enjoys teaching mathematics, as well as music. In her spare time, she performs with a 17 piece jazz ensemble The Halcyon Syncopators, an off-shoot from her family run music organisation of 35 years, CPC Music.
Fran Campbell - Fran has lived and worked in Knowsley all her life. For over 20 years she has been at Halewood supporting students who have experienced difficulties in their lives.
