Our Business Studies Curriculum is Designed To::

Business Studies at Halewood Academy provides students with essential knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in the world of business and enterprise. Aligned with the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Business and Enterprise, the curriculum equips students with:

  • Entrepreneurial thinking
  • Strategic decision-making
  • Problem-solving and communication skills
  • Financial awareness and business planning

Through real-world examples and current case studies, students learn how businesses start, operate, grow, and respond to external influences. They also explore topics such as marketing, finance, and human resources to develop a well-rounded understanding of business environments.

We aim to do this by covering key content areas Including:

Component 1: Introduction to Business and Enterprise

  • Characteristics of successful entrepreneurs
  • Business aims and objectives
  • Types of ownership and organisational structures
  • Stakeholders and their influence on business decisions
  • Market research and understanding customer needs
  • The marketing mix and promotional techniques
  • Internal and external factors that impact business success

Component 2: Understanding Resources for Business and Enterprise Planning

  • Business planning and decision making
  • Business finance, sources of funding, and budgeting
  • Human resources and recruitment planning
  • Legal considerations and operational functions
  • Developing effective and realistic business proposals

    Qualification Information:

    Course: NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Business and Enterprise

    Regulated Qualification Number (RQF): 603/7004/X

    Assessment:

    • Component 1: Internal synoptic project (60%)
    • Component 2: External written exam (40%)

    This vocational course combines classroom learning with practical business tasks, ideal for learners interested in careers such as marketing, retail, finance, or starting their own business.
