Halewood Academy students and staff celebrated the achievements of the academic year 2018/19 last week. We were delighted to welcome back Carol Thomas, former Progress Leader, who joined us as our special guest of honour. Lillie-Beth Kelly, Head Girl, and Thomas McIntyre, Head Boy, both gave excellent speeches reflecting on their time at Halewood as they prepare for their GCSE examinations in the summer. Charlotte Houghton sang two songs, Hallelujah and Skinny Love, beautifully. Mr Evans announced that his Year 11 Student of the Year was Katy Allen - Katy achieved 9 GCSEs st Grade 9 & 8. The winner of the Megan Hurley Outstanding Achievement Award was Evie Jo Kenna. You can read Mr Evans' citations below along with the lists of all Award Winners.
We also held our second Staff Awards. With almost 800 votes cast during the week, the competition has really captured the attention of our students. Teacher of the Year went to Mr Gilbert. The Support Staff Member of the Year is Miss Newton and our Unsung Hero is Mr Campbell! You can see the film that Deputy Head Boy, Cameron Herrity, produced below. Cameron and Deputy Head Girl, Ellie Forshaw, presented the Staff Awards on the night.
Congratulations to all of our award winners - both students and staff and thank you to all parents, relatives and friends who came along to support the student and the school!
